There was a time where they thought the world was flat and if you sailed far enough out on the ocean you would fall over the edge and end god knows where. One minute you are cruising the ocean and the next moment you have fallen out into the great unknown. That is how I feel about Auguststrasse.
I love cruising Auguststrasse. A good night starts with a burger at the ever so lovely Shiso, by far my most favourite burger place in Berlin these days. Then like a pinball I will bounce from one place to the next in the direction of Friedrichstrasse. And then you have to be carefully not to fall over the edge. When you fall over the edge of Auguststrasse you do end in the great unknown and not just any unknown but a very particular unknown. It is the unknown known as KingSize. The place where people come to get lost in the crowd.
It happened to me again this Saturday. I was bouncing through Auguststrasse, Berlin and then I feel over the edge and ended at the great unknown. What was different than most times I hit the great unknown is that it was pretty damn early when I got there, however it turned out to be such a great evening due to a couple of DJs named Gamme and Lola Luc.
Arriving this early gave me a chance to hear them build up the evening. From background music to making us all one happy crowd in 40 minutes is pretty damn good in my book. Here was somebody who remembered what it was all about. The merits of a DJ should not be measured by his the amount of strangers they can make out with over the console but how they make us all feel as one movement and crowd.
Keep up the good work G+LL.
